Introduction

Secure Schools Inc. ("Secure Schools", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy and is  committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains how we  collect, use, and disclose personal information from and about our customers,  prospective customers, and website visitors (each referred to as “you”) when you visit  our website, use our web application, contact us, or interact with us at any other location  where this privacy policy is made available to you (collectively, the “Services”). This  privacy policy also informs you of your rights and choices with respect to the information  we collect about you.  

This privacy policy is provided in a layered format so you can click through to the  specific areas set out below. Please see the appendix of this Privacy Policy for our Notice for Our California Customers, which includes information about rights you may  have pursuant to applicable law. 

1. Important Information And Who We Are

We are a business-to-business (B2B) company, meaning our customers are businesses  and not consumers. Please note that we may collect, use, and share information about  you as a service provider to our business customers; this privacy policy does not apply  to that collection, use, or sharing (our legal obligations are instead set out in the contract  between us and the relevant data controller). For the purposes of our Services that are  covered by this privacy policy, we are a data controller of your personal information. 


By engaging with Secure Schools online and through other channels, you agree and  acknowledge our collection, use, and disclosure practices, and other activities, as  described in this privacy policy. If you do not agree with the practices disclosed in this  privacy policy, discontinue use of the Services. 

2. The Personal Information We Collect About You

Personal information means any information about an individual from which that person  can be identified (directly and indirectly). It does not include data where the identity has  been removed (de-identified data). 


We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal information about you  that we have grouped together as follows: 

  • Identity Data includes first name, maiden name, last name, username or similar  identifier, marital status, title, date of birth and gender.

  • Contact Data includes billing address, delivery address, email address and  telephone numbers. 

  • Financial Data includes bank account and payment card details. 

  • Transaction Data includes details about payments to and from you and other  details of products and services you have purchased from us. 

  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser  type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and  versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website. 

  • Profile Data includes your username and password, purchases or orders made  by you, your interests, preferences, feedback and survey responses. 

  •  Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, products and  services. 

  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving  marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences. 

    We also collect, use and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic  data for any purpose. Aggregated Data could be derived from your personal information but is not considered personal information in law as this data will not directly or indirectly  reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the  percentage of users accessing a specific website feature. However, if we combine or  connect Aggregated Data with your personal information so that it can directly or  indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal information which will be  used in accordance with this privacy policy.

If you fail to provide personal data

Where we need to collect personal information by law, or under the terms of a contract  we have with you, and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able  to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to  provide you with goods or services). In this case, we may have to cancel a product or  service you have with us but we will notify you if this is the case at the time. 

3. How Is Your Personal Data Collected?

We We use different methods to collect data from and about you including through:

Direct interactions. You may give us your Identity, Contact and Financial Data by filling  in forms or by corresponding with us by post, phone, email or otherwise. This includes  personal information you provide when you: 

  • apply for our Services; 
  • create an account on our website;
  • subscribe to our Services or publications;
  • enter a competition, promotion or survey; or
  • give us feedback or contact us. 


Automated technologies or interactions. As you interact with our website, we will  automatically collect Technical Data about your equipment, browsing actions and  patterns. We collect this personal information by using cookies and other similar  technologies. We may also receive Technical Data about you if you visit other websites  employing our cookies. Third parties or publicly available sources. We will receive personal information about you from various third parties and public sources as set out below: 

  • Technical Data from the following parties: analytics providers such as Google; advertising networks; and search information providers.
  • Contact, Financial and Transaction Data from providers of technical, payment  and delivery services.
  • Identity and Contact Data from data brokers or aggregators.
  • Identity and Contact Data from publicly available sources.

4. How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect in various ways, including: 

To provide and maintain the Services 

We use your personal information to process your requests, provide the Services, and  maintain service quality. 

To respond to your requests 

We use your personal information to respond to your inquiries and consider your  request or application.  

For general business operations

We use your personal information for the administration of our general business,  payment, accounting, record keeping, and legal functions. 

For marketing and promotional offers from us

We may use your Identity, Contact, Technical, Usage and Profile Data to form a view on  what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we  decide which products, services and offers may be relevant for you (we call this  marketing). 

You will receive marketing communications from us if you have requested information  from us or purchased services from us and you have not opted out of receiving that  marketing. 

For analytics and improvement 

We use your personal information to better understand how users access and use the  Services, and for our other research and analytics purposes, such as to evaluate  improve our services and business operations and to develop services and features.  

To protect the security and integrity of our business, comply with legal  requirements and obligations, or as otherwise permitted by law 

We may use your personal information if required to do so by law or in a good faith belief  that such use is reasonably necessary to: (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation,  legal process or governmental request, (b) enforce our Terms & Conditions, including  investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address  fraud, security or technical issues (including, without limitation, filtering of spam), (d)  respond to user support requests, or (e) protect the rights, property or safety of Secure  Schools, its users, and the public. 

Change of purpose 

We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we collected it,  unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that  reason is compatible with the original purpose.  

If we need to use your personal information for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you  and obtain consent where this is required by law. 

Please note that we may process your personal information without your knowledge or  consent where this is required or permitted by law. 

5. Disclosures Of Your Personal Data

We may share your personal information with the parties set out below:

Service providers who provide services on our behalf and help us operate our  Services or our business (such as IT and system administration, payment processing,  customer support, consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services). 

Marketing and advertising partners whom we share information to serve you ads tailored to your interests, or to tailor ads that may be served to you on our Services, as well as other websites and social media networks. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in  good faith to be necessary or appropriate to comply with law or for the compliance,  fraud prevention, and safety purposes described above. 

Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our  business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or  merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal information in the same way as set out in this privacy policy. 

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal information and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal information for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal information for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. 

Secure Schools’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google  APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. 

6. International Transfers

Many of our external third parties are based outside the EEA so their processing of your  personal information will involve a transfer of data outside the EEA. 

Whenever we transfer your personal information out of the EEA, we ensure a similar  degree of protection is afforded to it by ensuring at least one of the following safeguards  is implemented: 

Where we use certain service providers, we may use specific contracts approved by the  European Commission which give personal information the same protection it has in  Europe. 7. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way,  altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. 

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal information breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so. 

8. Data Retention

We will only retain your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal,  regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal information for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you. 

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other requirements. 

By law, we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact,  Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes. 

In some circumstances you can ask us to delete your data: see your legal rights below for further information. 

In some circumstances we will de-identify your personal information (so that it can no  longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes, in which case we  may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you. 

9. Your Choices

You have certain choices about how we use your personal information.

Marketing 

We strive to provide you with choices regarding certain personal information uses,  particularly around marketing and advertising. Where required by law, we will obtain your consent to send marketing communications by post, email, telephone, text message (SMS) or automated call.  

You can ask us or third parties to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by: 

  • Following the opt-out links on any marketing message sent to you. 
  • Contacting us at any time. 

Where you opt out of receiving these marketing messages, this will not apply to personal information provided to us as a result of a product/service purchase, warranty registration, product/service experience or other transactions. 

Cookies 

You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this website may become inaccessible or not function properly.  

You can also prevent the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the  Services (including your IP address) from being transmitted to Google and then processed by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=us.

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. This version was last updated as specified at the top of this page. Historic versions can be obtained by contacting us. 

It is important that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and current.  Please keep us informed if your personal information changes during your relationship with us.

This website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications.  Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit. 

12. Children's Information

We do not knowingly collect or sell personal information from children under the age of  18. Our Services are not directed to minors under the age of 18.

1. Notice at Collection Disclosure

For our notice at collection, see the above sections of this privacy policy titled: The  Personal Information We Collect About You, How We Use Your Personal Information, and Data Retention.  

Please note that we sell or share information collected by cookies and similar tracking technologies (i.e., Technical Data and Usage Data) with third parties for targeted advertisements. We do not engage in any other activities that would be considered a  “sale” or “share” of your personal information. You can direct us not to sell or share your personal information by contacting us privacy@secureschools.com.  

3. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights, where provided under applicable state law, regarding  your personal information (each of which are subject to various exceptions and  limitations): 

  • Access. You have the right to request, up to two times every 12 months, that we disclose to you the categories of personal information collected about you, the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected, the categories of personal information sold or shared, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing the personal information, the categories of third parties with whom personal information was shared, and the specific pieces of personal information collected about you. 
  • Correction. You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information collected from you. 
  • Deletion. You have the right to request that we delete your personal information  that we maintain about you. 
  • Opt Out (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information). You have the right to opt-out of the “sale” of your personal information and the “sharing” of personal information in connection with the display of “targeted advertising” across third-party websites, as these terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws. These terms are defined broadly to include situations where we provide personal information to partners who provide advertising services to us.   • No Discrimination. You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. 
  • Appeals. You have a right to appeal decisions concerning your ability to exercise your consumer rights. 
  • Submission of Requests. We honor requests as and to the extent required under applicable laws, which may be based on where you live. You may request to exercise the above rights by emailing us at privacy@secureschools.com. Note that we may deny certain requests, or fulfill a request only in part, based on our legal rights and obligations. For example, we may retain personal information as permitted by law, such as for tax or other record-keeping purposes. 
  • Authorized Agent. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request  on your behalf. When submitting the request, please ensure the authorized agent identifies himself/herself/itself as an authorized agent and can show written permission from you to represent you. We may contact you directly to confirm that you have authorized the agent to act on your behalf and confirm your  identity. 
  • Verification. Whether you submit a request directly on your own behalf, or  through an authorized agent, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity prior to responding to your requests. The verification steps will vary depending on the sensitivity of the personal information and the nature of your request.  

4. Shine the Light

If you reside in California, you have the right to ask us one time each year if we have shared personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
